DayDiff Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2, 2026

DayDiff is an iPhone weather app that shows today's weather, compared with yesterday, through a dog named COCO. It is made by HELLOCOCODOODLE INC. ("we", "us").

The short version: DayDiff has no accounts, no ads, and no server of our own. We do not collect or store your personal information on our own servers. To show the weather, your device talks directly to Apple and, for some U.S. weather alerts, the National Weather Service. Questions? Email contact@hellococodoodle.com.

1. What DayDiff uses

Your location. If you allow it, DayDiff reads your phone's location while you use the app, to show the weather where you are. You can choose precise or approximate location. We do not ask for "Always" access. If you say no, you can pick a city by hand and the app still works. When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matching places. DayDiff also asks Apple Maps for the name of your city from your location, so it can show a name like "Brooklyn". Both of these requests go from your phone to Apple.

Weather from Apple WeatherKit. To get your forecast, yesterday's temperatures, and weather alerts, your phone sends the location (or the city you picked) to Apple WeatherKit. This request goes from your phone to Apple. It does not pass through any server of ours, and we do not receive or store your location.

Alert end times from weather.gov (United States only). When you open a weather alert, DayDiff asks the U.S. National Weather Service (weather.gov) when the alert ends. This request sends your approximate location to weather.gov and is made from your phone. It is used only to show the end time. If it fails, or you are outside the United States, the alert is shown without an end time.

Purchases. DayDiff is free to download. DayDiff Plus (quarterly, yearly, or lifetime) is bought in the app. Apple handles the whole purchase and your payment details through the App Store. We never see your card or Apple ID. DayDiff checks with Apple on your phone whether you have Plus. You can restore a purchase from the Plus screen.

Plus video downloads. Some of COCO's videos are downloaded to your phone from Apple (Background Assets) after you install the app, not from us. Most of them download only after you get Plus.

Saved on your phone. DayDiff stores these on your device only: the city you chose or your last known location (so the app and widgets can show weather without asking again), settings such as °F or °C, and small bits of app state. The app and its widgets share this on your phone through an Apple feature called an App Group. It does not leave your phone through us.

2. What we do not collect

  • No name, email address, phone number, or account. DayDiff has no sign-in.
  • No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data.
  • No advertising identifier. DayDiff shows no ads and does not track you across other apps or websites.
  • No analytics or advertising tools from other companies. We do not sell your information.

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and diagnostic information to help improve the app. We do not use this information to track you.

3. Who else receives data

  • Apple: WeatherKit, Apple Maps (city search and city name), the App Store (purchases), and Background Assets (Plus videos). Apple handles these under its own Privacy Policy.
  • U.S. National Weather Service (weather.gov): alert end times, as described above.

We do not run a server, so we have nothing else to share.

4. How long we keep it, and deleting it

DayDiff has no user account and does not store your app settings on our servers. Deleting DayDiff from your device removes its locally stored settings and cached videos. App Store purchase records are managed separately by Apple. You can turn off location any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > DayDiff.

5. Your choices

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or erase. If you want to ask anyway, wherever you live, email contact@hellococodoodle.com and we will reply.

6. Children

DayDiff is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The app sends nothing to us, so there is nothing to collect.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. For important changes, we will tell you in the app.
